To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many allegations of wrongful conviction upon indictment have been received during the last six months by C3 division of the Home Office with a view to a possible reference to the Court of Appeal under section 17 of the Criminal Appeal Act 1968; and how many allegations have been dealt with.

During the six months ending 31 March 1992, the most recent period for which figures are readily available, 301 allegations of wrongful conviction on indictment were received and reviews of 283 cases were completed.
