HC Deb 16 July 1992 vol 211 c1025W
Mr. Gallie

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland when he expects the extension to Parliament House to be completed; and what other plans he has for the provision of accommodation for the Supreme court in Edinburgh.

Mr. Lang

The extension to Parliament House will be completed and ready for use by September 1992. Following the completion of the new Edinburgh sheriff court house in 1994 it is proposed that the Lawnmarket building in Edinburgh, suitably refurbished, will be made available for use by the High Court of Justiciary and a phased programme of major repair and refurbishment work undertaken in the accommodation used by the supreme courts in Parliament House. I am inviting interested parties to comment on these proposals which are directed to ensure that the supreme courts in Edinburgh will have fully adequate accommodation well into the next century.
