To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what studies have been undertaken as to the effect of economic and monetary union.

Studies include the European Commission report "One market, one money: An evaluation of the potential benefits and costs of forming an economic and monetary union", which is available in the Library. An account of the agreement at Maastricht was published in the Treasury bulletin for winter 1991–92, which is also available in the Library.
