Of the 319 permanent new jobs in the specified areas, 84 were from expansion within Sunderland city council administrative area, 37 were created as a result of expansion from within the northern region and 198 as a result of inward investment from outside the region. A detailed breakdown of this information by site is not available.

§ Mr. Robin Squire[holding answer 13 July 1992]: In the period 1 April 1988 to 31 March 1992 Tyne and Wear development corporation provided £2,983,749 in support to industry on Wearside. The breakdown between financial years is as follows:
