§ Mr. Ron DaviesTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) if he will provide a complete list of the numbers of licences granted for the taking of birds of prey from the wild and the numbers of birds of prey taken under such licences, by species in each case, for each of the last five years;
(2) how many quarry licences for falconry were issued in each of the last five years; and what quarry species were involved;
(3) by species of avian predator, and for each of the last five years, what was the number of licences granted for taking and the number of birds so taken from the wild;
(4) how many licences for taking wild peregrine falcons have been issued in each of the last five years;
(5) what was the number of falconry licences issued during each of the last five years, giving the categories and numbers of prey species involved.
§ Mr. Maclean[holding answer 13 July 1992]: Details of these licences are given in the United Kingdom's annual derogation reports to the European Commission under the terms of the EC directive 79/409 on the conservation of wild birds. Copies of each report for the years 1987 to 1991 have been placed in the Library of the House.
