§ Mr. HeseltineOver the next 12 months, I shall continue to follow up specific commitments relevant to my Department in the White paper Cm 1200 "This Common Inheritance" in the subsequent "First Year Report", Cm 1655, and in the statement made by my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister to the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio on 12June. I shall also be giving priority to the further development of a strategy for integrating environmental considerations into the day-to-day management of my Department.
For the longer term, I will continue to ensure that environmental considerations are integrated into the development of all the policies and programmes of my Department where relevant. I shall also continue the practice established by my predecessor of including a report on the environmental aspects of my Department's activities in the annual trade and industry expenditure plans.
