§ Mr. CryerTo ask the Prime Minister if he will set out the plans Her Majesty's Government have to promote the role of the United Nations in(a) disarmament and (b) environmental protection, during the United Kingdom presidency of the United Nations Security Council in 1992.
§ The Prime MinisterWe hope that the high-level meeting of the United Nations Security Council which I shall be chairing on 31 January, will stress the importance the council attaches to arms control, to the prevention of the proliferation of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction, and to responsibility in the export of112W conventional arms. We are also playing a full part in the preparations for the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in June.
