HC Deb 21 January 1992 vol 202 c151W
Mr. Cryer

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will make a statement on the cleanliness of national health service hospitals since cleaning services were privatised.

Mr. Dorrell

A key objective for NHS management is to maintain an environment which promotes and protects the health of all who come into contact with hospital services.

The responsibility for specifying the required standards of cleanliness and ensuring those standards are maintained rests with local hospital management whether cleaning services are provided in-house or by external contractor.
