How many house were available for rent in 1979–90 in the following categories:

  1. (i) local authorities,
  2. (ii) voluntary bodies,
  3. (iii) private landlords, and
  4. (iv) other sources.

The available figures for Great Britain and the United Kingdom are shown in the annual volume of the publicationHousing and Construction Statistics: Great Britain. Figures for December 1979 are in the 1979–89 edition and those for 1980 to 1990 in the 1980–90 edition (Table 9.3). Copies of these publications are in the Library.

In these tables dwellings rented from the Scottish Special Housing Association and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive are included with local authority and new town stock.
