§ The Minister of State, Department of Transport (Lord Brabazon of Tara)New pay arrangements for civil servants are currently being developed. It is too early to assess how these might affect the particular group to which MPs' salaries are linked. However, given the disparate nature of the work of Members of Parliament it would be extremely difficult to judge their relative performance for pay purposes.
