§ Mr. SkinnerTo ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will investigate the qualifications laid down by the major banks regarding the ability of young people aged between 16 and 22 years to open bank accounts; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. NelsonI have no plans to investigate this issue. The principles that banks will follow when allowing people to open accounts, and when providing credit to young people, are set out in the code of banking practice which was published in December 1991.
