Whether in discussions concerning the protection of animals during transit under proposals in EC draft Directive No. 7214/90 the particular needs of live deer are being specially considered.
§ The Minister of State, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Baroness Trumpington)The European Community proposals for the protection of animal; during transport have been agreed in the Council of Agriculture Ministers. These provisions set detailed requirements for all species of animals and for deer, their transportation would be prohibited when antlers are in velvet.
