To ask the Secretary of State for Energy if he will list the privately owned deep coal mines in the counties of Northumberland and Durham and their possible life span.

The British Coal Corporation is the licensing authority under the Coal Industry Nationalisation Act 1946. The information requested is therefore a matter for it.
