To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement on the level of inward investment from the United States.

The United Kingdom has maintained its successful track record as the preferred location within the European Community for inward investment from the United States of America. Britain's share of United States direct investment in the EC stood at 38 per cent. at the end of 1990.
