To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many jobs he estimates that enterprise zones have created; and if he will make a statement.

By December 1989, the latest year for which figures are available for the United Kingdom as a whole, the number of jobs in enterprise zones had increased by 99,800 since the zones were created.
