§ Mrs. ChalkerNo such assessment has been made. Since October 1990 the bilateral aid programme has been financing a three-year research programme by Imperial college which is looking at the major problems concerning the regeneration of greenheart and other commercial timber species.

§ Mrs. ChalkerThe World Bank approved a $10 million loan in October 1978 and a supplementary IDA loan of SDR8.7 million ($8.8 million) in March 1985 to the Government of Guyana for the Upper Demerara forestry project. A state-owned company, Demerara Woods, was set up to manage the project.
