§ Sir George Young
[holding answer 5 November 1991]: The available information, consistent with the new public expenditure planning total introduced in 1990, is as follows.
authorities' receipts which increased from £1,630 million in 1984–85 to £3,300 million in 1988–89 and in 1990–91 were an estimated £2,450 million.309W
Information on a comparable basis for years before 1984–85 can be derived only at disproportionate cost. However, figures for earlier years on the old planning total basis are contained in public expenditure White Papers published prior to 1990.
