To ask the. Secretary of State for Wales what consultations he has had with the chairman of the Cardiff Bay development corporation concerning the continuation of groundwater studies beyond 31 July related to the proposed barrage and the impact o r the raised water table on properties in central Cardiff.

I have had no such consultations with the chairman of the development corporation. My officials are in touch with officers of the corporation about the progress of the groundwater studies as part of their routine liaison.
