HL Deb 14 May 1991 vol 528 cc66-7WA
Lord Ross of Newport

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What sites either qualify for designation, or have been designated as;

  1. (a) Ramsar Sites under the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance; and/or
  2. (b) Special Protection Areas under the European Community Directive on the Conservation of Wild Birds (79/409 EEC).

Baroness Blatch

I have placed in the Library of the House tables which list all those sites in England, Scotland and Wales which have been designated as either Special Protection Areas, or Ramsar Sites, or both, and those which have been identified by the appropriate Country Conservation Agency (formerly NCC) as potential Special Protection Areas or Ramsar Sites.
