HL Deb 28 March 1991 vol 527 cc74-5WA
Lord Graham of Edmonton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have implemented the recommendation of Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Prisons that the night staff at Leyhill should be upgraded.

Earl Ferrers

The Chief Inspector of Prisons in 1988 recommended that the disposition of night staff at Leyhill should be re-examined by the governor. This was done.

The area manager and governor recently considered the possibility of increasing the night staffing level, but they are satisfied that the current level of four night patrols and a night orderly officer is sufficient to maintain external security. They are continuing to keep Leyhill's staffing levels under review.
