HC Deb 13 March 1991 vol 187 c556W
Mr. Wilson

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will list the categories of hospital and the aspects of their work that enjoy Crown immunity.

Mr. Dorrell

Currently national health service hospitals enjoy Crown immunity except in respect of food hygiene and health and safety legislation. From 1 April this year hospitals will cease to enjoy Crown immunity with the exception only of certain provisions in the Employers' Liability (Compulsory Insurance) Act 1969, the Vehicles (Excise) Act 1971, the Road Traffic Act 1988, and the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.
