§ 26. Mr. John MarshallTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement about the number of homes sold under the right-to-buy legislation.
§ Lord James Douglas-HamiltonAlmost 205,000 homes in Scotland were sold under the right-to-buy legislation from October 1980 to end December 1990. Some of the Scottish Homes properties were sold under voluntary arrangements. The total level of sales demonstrates clearly the success of the Government's policy of extending the level of home-ownership in response to the aspirations of a large percentage of the population in Scotland.
