To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will introduce in Scotland a special needs management allowance similar to that available in England and Wales.

Scottish Homes is currently reviewing funding arrangements for housing associations in Scotland and I shall consider its proposals with care in due course. Any changes in revenue funding arangements are unlikely to be announced before the spring of 1992. Hostel deficit grant will continue to be available for eligible schemes until 1 April 1992.

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how much was paid out in hostel deficit grant to housing associations in Scotland in the last five years for which figures are available; and how many units of accommodation were covered by hostel deficit grant in each of the last five years.
