To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what international treaties and conventions exist providing for the protection of the rights of minority groups, as opposed to the rights of individuals.

There are no multilateral United Nations or Council of Europe treaties and conventions which protect minority groups as such. Individuals belonging to minorities are given particular mention in article 27 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
