To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what level of punctuality was achieved by InterCity in 1981, 1986 and 1991.

British Rail's five business sectors were not introduced until 1982 so InterCity punctuality figures for 1981 are not available. The level of punctuality achieved by InterCity in both 1986–87 and 1990–91 is as followsTrains running on time or within 10 minutes: 85 per cent.
