HC Deb 11 June 1991 vol 192 cc521-2W
Sir Eldon Griffiths

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence for what purpose he is to erect at Coney Weston, Suffolk, a 100 ft tall radio mast and related buildings; what consultations he has had with local authorities and environmental bodies about the siting of the tower; when he intends to construct it; and how much it will cost.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

The 30 m high tower we propose to construct at Coney Weston, Suffolk, is part of the Royal Air Force's advanced communications system known as the Boxer network. There has been full consultation with the local planning authority and a notice of proposed development submitted for consideration. We propose to commence construction of the tower later this year. It is not our practice to disclose details of individual costs which are commercial-in-confidence.
