§ Ms. RichardsonTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department who represented the United Kingdom at the Informal Council on the Conditions of Women in the EC member states held in Luxemboug on 13 May; what was discussed; what priorities were put forward for action; and whether there are plans for a further meeting.
§ Mrs. Rumbold[holding answer 3 June 1991]: I attended the informal meeting of Women's Ministers in Luxembourg on 13 May in my capacity as chairman of the ministerial group on women's issues. We discussed the implementation of the third medium term (1991–95) Community action programme on equal opportunities for women and men and child care provision in the member states.
The meeting endorsed the overall objective of the Commission's third action programme and there was an exchange of views on child care provision. It is up to each presidency to decide whether to call an informal meeting of Ministers.
