HC Deb 04 June 1991 vol 192 c224W
12. Mr. Simon Coombs

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence when he expects to report to the House on his consideration of "Options for Change".

Mr. Tom King

We are proceeding in consultation with our NATO allies to carry forward our work on "Options for Change". The achievement of agreement on the United Kingdom role in the rapid reaction corps is an important further step forward in this. As I have already made clear, I intend to set out the progress so far, and the way ahead, in the annual defence White Paper, which I hope to publish before the summer recess.

19. Mrs. Maureen Hicks

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what representations he has received about the role of the Territorial Army as part of his "Options for Change" discussions.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

I have received a number of representations concerning the Territorial Army's role in our future plans for the armed forces.

24. Mr. Patchett

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many meetings have taken place with civil service trade union representatives regarding the "Options for Change" study.

27. Mr. McAvoy

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many meetings have taken place with civil service trade union representatives regarding the "Options for Change" study.

Mr. Kenneth Carlisle

Progress on the work on "Options for Change" has been discussed at the last two meetings of the departmental Whitley council and at the last four meetings of the joint industrial Whitley council. In addition, there have been a number of informal meetings between trade union representatives and Ministers and senior officials.
