HL Deb 24 July 1991 vol 531 c51WA
Lord Foot

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What progress they are making in relation to the criminal code for England and Wales recommended by the Law Commission (Law Comm. No. 177) in April 1989.

The Lord Chancellor

Following the publication in 1989 of its proposals for a criminal code, the Law Commission is now, in furtherance of that project, engaged in producing proposals and a draft Bill covering non-fatal offences against the person and a number of defences and general principles applying to all offences. In that connection it is hoped to issue a consultation paper early next year.
