§ Mr. Atkinson
To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement about the appointment and composition of the membership of the Local Government Commission.

§ Mr. Key
Subject to Parliament, the new Local Government Commission will be set up next year. The Secretary of State will appoint its members, and will seek to ensure a balanced membership.
