HC Deb 08 July 1991 vol 194 c289W
Ms. Ruddock

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what further progress has been made in implementing his policy of creating 1,000 miles of cycle lanes in London; and what is his policy regarding the creation of cycle lanes through royal parks.

Mr. Chope

Following the seminar hosted by my Department last November, a group of cycling officers from the London boroughs has been set up and continues to meet regularly with the object of co-ordinating the provision of cycle facilities in London.

The London planning advisory committee has endorsed the results of consultation with the boroughs on the 1,000-mile network and that information is being used to produce the maps of the network which will be ready for distribution to boroughs in the autumn.

I am discussing the provision for cyclists in the royal parks with my noble Friend the Minister of State, Department of the Environment.
