HC Deb 23 January 1991 vol 184 cc223-4W
26. Mr. Ron Brown

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement about the effect of sanctions against Iraq on British industry.

Mr. Sainsbury

In 1989 visible exports to Iraq and Kuwait formed 0.75 per cent. of our exports worldwide. The effect of sanctions against Iraq on British industry has varied according to companies' reliance on that market, and the extent to which they had taken out insurance.
