HC Deb 28 February 1991 vol 186 c567W
Mr. Madden

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department when papers concerning the appeal of Mrs. Rifat Iqbal, Home Office reference: A 421556, the wife of Mr. Mumtaz Ahmed, were received by his Department from the post in Karachi, reference KA 55157; and when papers are going to be passed to the appropriate representatives and appellate authorities.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

The appeal documents were received in the Home Office on 4 December 1989. There are substantial backlogs of appeals awaiting preparation of explanatory statements and these, along with some further inquiries which were needed, delayed work on Mrs. Iqbal's case. However, the statement has now been prepared and will be dispatched to the appellate authorities very shortly. They will make arrangements for it to be forwarded to the appellant's nominated representative.
