HC Deb 22 February 1991 vol 186 c310W
Mr. Galbraith

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give the capital charges for each health board in Scotland.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

The capital charging system does not commence until 1 April 1991. Health boards have, however, submitted forecasts of their likely capital charges for 1991–92, as shown in the table below. Actual capital charges for the year will be included in boards' annual accounts. Each board is receiving full reimbursement for its capital charges in 1991–92, so that the introduction of capital charging in that year will be entirely neutral in funding terms.

Health Board £ million
Argyll and Clyde 25.6
Ayr and Arran 18.0
Borders 6.8
Dumfries and Galloway 9.3
Fife 20.0
Forth Valley 17.8

Greater Glasgow 91.6

Lothian 58.1
Orkney 1.0
Shetland 1.3
Tayside 36.0
Western Isles 1.2
Total 355.5
