§ Mr. LeightonTo ask the Secretary of State for Employment what changes to departmental aims and objectives have been made in the past year; and what is his estimate of their impact on expenditure plans for 1990–91 and future years.
Mr. JacksonMy Departmen's aims and objectives—as set out in the departmental report—Cm. 1506. February 1991—were revised during 1990 to focus them more closely on labour market outcomes and to take account of changes in the labour market and in the Department's programmes and activities. The changes to the aims and objectives in themselves had no impact on my Department's expenditure plans.
The previous set of aims and objectives were presented in the Department of Employment Chapter of "The Government's Expenditure Plans 1990–91 to 1992–93"—Cm. 1006, January 1990.
