§ Mr. Michael ForsythMy noble Friend met the Scottish Fishermen's Federation on a number of occasions towards the end of last year, including at the December Fisheries Council. A number of issues were discussed at these meetings including possible changes in mesh size. We are currently consulting the industry over a package of improved technical conservation measures proposed for introduction in the North sea and west coast of Scotland this year. These measures include the introduction of 90mm square mesh panels in current demersal fishing gear.
