§ Mr. MillsTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what indirect subsidies are enjoyed by the Directorate of Telecommunications in the use of publicly funded premises.
§ Mr. Kenneth BakerInstallation and maintenance services are carried out by DTELS at eight regional service centres which are owned by the Home Office and at 50 local workshops owned by police forces or fire brigades. DTELS' charges for these services are set so as to recover the running costs of the regional centres. To date, no police or fire authority has proposed that DTELS should pay for the use of workshops on its premises as these workshops enable DTELS to provide a more effective service.
