asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is their response to the proposal by the Royal British Legion for a Department of Ex-Service Affairs.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of Defence (The Earl of Arran)

For the reasons given by my noble friend the Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne on 12th July 1991, we regard the establishment of a Department of Ex-Service Affairs as unnecessary.
