§ Mr. Garel-JonesThere have been two full debates covering the negotiations in the intergovernmental conferences on economic and monetary and political union, on 26 June and on 20–21 November. The House of Lords also held a debate on the negotiations on 25 November. The Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs gave oral evidence to the Foreign Affairs Committee in advance of the Luxembourg and Maastricht European Councils on 12 June and 19 November. Ministers have been in regular contact with the Scrutiny Committees of both Houses.
