HL Deb 03 December 1991 vol 533 c5WA
The Viscount of Falkland

asked the Chairman of Committees:

Whether a swimming pool could be made available to Members and staff of both Houses of Parliament within the Palace of Westminster.

The Chairman of Committees (Lord Aberdare)

There are no plans to construct a swimming pool within the Palace of Westminster. Consideration is being given to the provision of a pool in the second phase of the new parliamentary building in Bridge street. This is of course a matter for another place. Should such a pool be built, however, I would hope that the usual arrangements would apply whereby facilities: of this kind are available to the two Houses of Parliament.
