To ask the Secretary of State for Energy if he will make a statement on the prospects for oil and gas extraction in the Firth of Clyde area.

Mr. Moyhihan

There are no petroleum licences extant in the firth of Clyde area. My Department knows of no present plans for oil and gas activity in the area.
