§ Mr. Tony Banks
To ask the Lord President of the Council if he has any plans to improve the telephone services in the Palace of Westminster.

§ Mr. MacGregor
It is planned to upgrade the software in the Palace of Westminster telephone exchange within the next 12 months. This will enable the automatic routing of outgoing calls by the cheapest means. During the same period it is hoped to modernise the equipment in use in the Members' Message Bureau in order to provide a more efficient message-taking service for Members and the general public.
