HC Deb 24 April 1991 vol 189 cc455-6W
30. Mr. Maclennan

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what reaction was given by the United Nations committee on human rights to the presentation of the United Kingdom's third periodic report on 1 and 2 April; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Garel-Jones

The human rights committee considered the United Kingdom's report at six public meetings on 1 to 3 April. There was a detailed and constructive dialogue. While individual members of the committee expressed a number of specific concerns, there was general satisfaction with the report and the manner in which the dialogue took place.
