HC Deb 15 April 1991 vol 189 c109W
Mr. Corbyn

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what visits to the Diyarbakir region of Turkey have been made by Her Majesty's Government's staff from the embassy in that country; whether they visited the Iraqi Kurdish refugee camps; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

On 10 April a first secretary from our embassy in Ankara, together with a senior Overseas Development Administration official, travelled to southeast Turkey for a four-day visit to view at first hand the refugee camps and the effectiveness of the relief effort. Also, our air attaché in Ankara has been in Incirlik from the outset of the relief operation, and flew with the first RAF relief sortie.
