§ 59. Mr. Ian BruceTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make a statement on the state of preparations for paying loans to university students.
Mr. JacksonThe Education (Student Loans) Act 1990 received Royal Assent on Thursday 26 April. The Student Loans Company is continuing to make good progress with preparations to provide loans to students for autumn 1990, subject to Parliament's approval of the regulations. Arrangements are in hand for publicising the loans and explaining the application procedure.
