§ Mr. MellorNone. The only information which can be made available to the public from the community charge register is the address, surname and initials of those subject to the charge. This information may be inspected, but not copied out, by members of the public.
§ 52. Mr. NellistTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for a report from the data protection registrar into the number of incidents of alleged misuse of information held by poll tax registration officers; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. MellorMy right hon. and learned Friend has no powers to do so. Any evidence of misuse of automated personal information will be investigated by the registrar, who has the responsibility for enforcing the Data Protection Act 1984.
