HC Deb 12 March 1990 vol 169 c92W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what discussions he has had with the South Yorkshire fire and civil defence authority over its financial situation; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Chope

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment carefully considered the representations made by the authority on his proposals for the 1990–91 local authority grant settlement before taking final decisions on the settlement. My right hon. and noble Friend the Minister of State, Home Office, subsequently met a delegation from the authority to discuss its financial situation.
