HC Deb 12 March 1990 vol 169 c53W
Mr. Shersby

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what advice he is giving to regional and district health authorities concerning the rates element of the board and lodging charges for residential accommodation for nurses; and if he will ensure that such charges are reduced to reflect the abolition of domestic rates when the collective community charge is implemented on 1 April.

Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

The level of lodging charges is a matter for the nursing and midwifery staffs negotiating council. I understand that the management side hopes to raise the issue at the meeting of the council on 13 March.
