HC Deb 12 March 1990 vol 169 cc52-3W
Mr. Hannam

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will provide detailed information on the pilot study into parent-held child record cards.

Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

A number of health authorities have been experimenting successfully with parent-held child health records. A working party of the British Paediatric Association has been reviewing these local arrangements and has designed an exemplar national record. The Department is to discuss with the BPA the promotion of the record and the arrangements for making it available to individual health authorities. We support the project since it is a good way of involving parents in the health care of their children.
