Mr. Leighton

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what has been the change in unemployment each year since the inception of the London Docklands development corporation in(a) the Greater London area, (b) the London Docklands development corporation area and (c) the three docklands boroughs of Newham, Tower Hamlets and Southwark.

The following information is available from the Library. Comparable figures for earlier years are not available on the same geographical basis. Comparisons are affected by various changes to the count over the period.

£150, (c) £170, (d) £120 and (e) £110 per week for (1) men, (2) women and (3) all full-time employees excluding overtime pay, in Great Britain and each standard economic region.

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what is his estimate of the proportion of female part-time workers earning below hourly earning's thresholds excluding overtime pay of (i) £2.20, £2.25 and £2.30 in 1982, (ii) £3.40, £3.50 and £3.60 in 1983 and (iii) £3.70, £3.80 and £3.90 in 1989.
